R&R Gives Back - National Dog Day

Today was far from ruff!

In honor of National Dog Day (Sunday, August 26), R&R partnered with MaxFund Animal Shelter to host a “Yappy Hour” in our office. We can’t think of a better way to unwind during a busy work week than snuggling with puppies! Please click on the photo for a look at the furry friends R&R hosted for the day.

All the dogs you see here are available for adoption. As part of our commitment to community service, we encourage you to learn more about how you can support Denver’s local animal shelters through adoption, fostering, and volunteering.

Meet R&R's Summer Intern - Trevor Smith

We’ve had another great summer with our intern, Trevor Smith! Trevor has been a vital part of our team and we’ve enjoyed the opportunity to learn alongside him as he collaborated with colleagues on real-world projects. Before heading back to Colorado State University for fall semester, Trevor shared a few takeaways:

Favorite things about working at R&R:

The people – it’s a smaller firm so it feels more like family because everyone knows everyone.

The culture – the daily Starbucks runs, and the day we got to go walk shelter dogs.

The flexibility – management happily accommodated several doctor appointments for an upcoming scheduled surgery.

The fun – When Chris accidentally asked Starbucks to add 7 shots of espresso to Michael’s drink and you could hear Michael typing and talking at warp speed from across the office.

Most valuable thing learned this summer:

AutoCad Civil 3D

Advice for students looking for internships

Put yourself out there. Show up to the career fairs and network with people.

A lesson you will take back to college:

Suck it up and do the work until it’s done.

Project Spotlight - Eagle Crossing 4th Filing

R&R is pleased to be working on an abundance of construction staking projects this summer, notably the Eagle Creek 4th Filing project in Windsor, CO. We are currently providing construction staking and layout services for a 14-unit multifamily apartment complex; the first phase of what will likely be three associated projects comprising the 90 acre subdivision. Right now our field crews are busy laying out minor arterial roads. R&R is only two months in on what will be a 18-24 month build-out. A good thing for Noah Liposchak, the primary Survey Crew Chief for the project.
R&R is working with a new general contractor client – Crow Creek Construction, LLC. With more than 20 years experience, they comprise one of the largest independent homebuilders in Northern Colorado, producing between 500 and 600 residential units a year.

The Eagle Creek 4th Filing project is a great example of individual members working as a team to propel R&R to new heights. Frank Kohl, PLS (Survey Dept Manager) and Jeff Weygandt (Snr Survey Project Manager) have made it a point to target new clients and new work for subdivisions and larger infrastructure with regards to construction surveying. After several meetings and preparing many proposals to various general contractors on various subdivision work, R&R now has a great project opportunity with a reputable client in a new market.

2018 Girls Exploring STEM (GESTEM) Event

R&R is proud to support Society of Women Engineers (SWE), an organization dedicated to empowering young minds.

On May 18, 2018, SWE hosted their 2018 GESTEM (Girls Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) event where more than 1,300 7th grade girls participated in workshops presented by local women Engineers. We were thrilled to have Sarah Parsley (Design Engineer) volunteer at such an exciting, hands-on event that encourages the next generation of female engineers to explore STEM and learn about potential career opportunities.

Quarterly Meeting & Team Building

During our Quarterly meeting for 2018 we were updated on R&R’s recent milestones, earnings, and upcoming projects. Awards were presented to Tony Smith and Andy Maggiore for their commitment of 5 years of service to R&R. After the meeting, we headed to Epic Escape Game Denver! It was a great team building experience, by working together in solving riddles and puzzles, finding clues, opening locks, in the end result of escaping the room in less than 60 minutes.

Batter's Up for Rockies West Lot Development

R&R is thrilled to provide full survey and civil engineering design services with great team members Hensel Phelps & RNL, now part of Stantec for this amazing development for the Colorado Rockies.
Proposed development calls for an outdoor gathering plaza, a Colorado Rockies Hall of Fame, hotel, office space, residential condominiums, ground-floor retail, entertainment, food and beverage vendors, and a state-of-the-art below ground parking garage.

R&R hit the ground running conducting site survey and necessary offsite survey for proposed utility capacity improvements. We’re ready to knock this one out of the park!!! 🙌

Global Academies - Site Optimization Makes for Better Campus Layout

R&R is currently providing survey and civil engineering services for a state of the art educational campus for the Mapleton School District in Northwest Denver (Adams County). This multiple building, educational campus features a PK-3 building, 4-8 building, 9-12 building, a fine arts facility, a career/tech building, and multiple athletic fields and outdoor play areas.
Working with our Architect and General Contractor partner Neenan Company, R&R has been an integral part of the campus site layout and incorporating the surrounding area’s existing drainage and utility configuration with the proposed development. The use of our Site Optimization software has made the Design/Build process seamless, with accurate data early on to confirm the most efficient site design possible.
